We are growing, and in need of finding our next software developer. We’ve posted a job description on Wired Sussex and University of Sussex today. You can apply here as well – here are the details…

What we do

We are currently a team of 2 (with an additional freelance developer at busy times) but due to growth since covid, we are in the delightful position to be growing our team.

We make custom software for businesses that haven’t found what they are looking for off-the-shelf; using a system called Claris FileMaker.

What you will do

You will help us create a Helpdesk for our current clients. We haven’t done this before, so your input will be invaluable, and you will be shaping the future of the way we work.

Customer service is key. We don’t want anyone to have to wait for fixes, so you will have a reassuring phone and email manner, while we do the problem solving.

As your confidence grows, we will be training you to fix regular problems and small issues yourself, with a career progression to be our next senior developer

No Experience Necessary

We are very happy to hear from someone who hasn’t done this sort of thing before but has a ‘maths brain’ who also loves to problem solve. You could be straight out of education, looking for a career change, or simply looking for a challenging new career

We will train you fully and once you are ready, we will pay for your FileMaker Accreditation, so you can become our next Senior developer.

If you are the sort of person who likes to take projects and run with them and enjoys a bit of responsibility, then we’d like to hear from you.

Oh, and if you’re a Mac person then you’ll fit right in.

Why should you work with us

Our office

We are in a shared resident office in Plus X, which is an innovation hub opposite Brighton University on the Lewes Road. It is in part of an area which is going through a lot of regeneration, so there will be lots of cafes and shops.

Plus X is designed specifically with connection and collaboration at its heart. It has step-free access and plenty of room for wheelchair access to desks

With monthly Network & Nourish lunches and Sunset sessions in the rooftop bar, Free Drink Fridays, and Yoga and Boxfit classes included in the membership there is life outside work as an added bonus.

Holidays

28 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays) and we also give you your birthday off, paid, each year.

Hours to suit

32 – 40 hours a week (pro-rata) because we understand that life gets in the way of committing to 8 hours every day. We will discuss the best option for you.

Flexible Home / Office

Once you are trained, then working from home up to 3 days a week is totally fine

We provide you with your own MacBook and make sure your home office has all the right kit

Salary

£ 22,000 – £ 26,000 per annum (based on 40 hours per week) depending on experience

Opt-in pension scheme

If you would like to come on the journey with us, please send your CV and, more importantly, an email about who you are and what you can offer us.

Closing date for applications Friday 19th May 2023

Interviews will be scheduled for the week of 5th June 2023
